The Business Analyst (BA) supports day-to-day requests for assistance from the IT area and business user areas. The BA evaluates requests for new or changed functionality to determine requirements and draft documentation. The BA acts as a liaison between business users and IT. To succeed in this role the BA should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Required:
    • A bachelor’s degree in business, technology, computer science or a related field
    • A combination of education, experience and training may be considered in lieu of a formal degree
    • 5+ years business analyst related experience facilitating meetings and documenting requirements
    • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
    • The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions
    • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • A track record of following through on commitments
    • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
    • Experience working on teams using Agile, Scrum, Waterfall and/or other methodologies
    • Working knowledge of current QA and Development practices and standards
    • Familiar with tools and technology that is used in QA and Development
    • Ability to communicate clearly effectively to various levels of management through various delivery modes
    • Ability to work cross-functionally and concurrently on various teams and projects in a collaborative manner
    • Participates in ‘Community of Practice’ or other role based organizations to grow in career and begin assisting others
    • Mid-level technical skills
    • Requires minimal guidance and direction
    • Requires minimal guidance on conflict resolution and problem solving
    • Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions
  • Leading ongoing reviews of business processes and developing optimization strategies
  • Conducting meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings
  • Performing requirements analysis
  • Effectively communicating your insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management
  • Gathering critical information from meetings with various stakeholders
  • Working closely with clients and development teams
  • Ensuring solutions meet business needs and requirements
  • Performing user functional and acceptance testing as needed
  • Updating, implementing and maintaining procedures
  • Monitoring deliverables and ensuring timely completion of projects
  • Track requirements from initiation through final implementation

Minimum Environmental Expectations:

  • This position will require working indoors. Typical workweek is eight (8) hour workdays, five (5) days per week with some weekend work, as well as longer hours as needed.
